The 2018 Annual Meeting of the homeowners' association introduced a new format with interactive sessions for members to engage in discussions and provide feedback. This led to initiatives such as the first-annual SHHA Community Survey, which received over 700 responses, helping the association better understand members' needs and priorities. Committees like the Covenant Support Committee and the Architectural Control Committee reviewed survey results to identify specific tasks, while the reestablished Community Service & Membership Committee played a key role in certifying office staff as voter registrars, simplifying voter registration. The newsletter also highlighted the importance of observing posted speed limits in the community to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians, encouraging self-policing for a safer neighborhood.
The first issue of "The GRIT" dates back to October 1984 with Volume 1, No. 1, continuing through the 1980s with various volume numbering systems and titles. The Sandia Heights Homeowners Association set objectives for the association year of 1984-1985, including achieving a minimum membership percentage, improving conditions on Tramway Boulevard, publishing a resident directory, and initiating association-sponsored events like a bicycle race and a Christmas home decoration contest. Other goals involved collaborating with neighboring associations for common projects and enhancing neighborhood welcoming programs for new residents.
